The Raylux 300 is a high performance White-Light LED illuminator that provides class leading performance within its field. The Raylux white light illuminators primary purpose is to provide even illumination and excellent night time images for CCTV cameras. However they provide plenty of lighting solutions both inside and out the security industry. Deterrent is one option, bright lighting always helps to reduce crime. Health and safety benefits also spring to mind as well as good working light to improve employee efficiency. The Raylux 300 also benefits from long life expectancy, energy efficiency and zero maintenance.

The LED lights incorporate surface mount LED’s to ensure that the optical output borders on outstanding and offers second to none in terms of reliability. White light LED illumintors have a bright future

Why would you spend £150 on something that you could buy for £15 from B&Q?  That’s the question facing everyone who has or wants to have outside lighting around their homes or businesses.

What are we talking about you may ask?  Well we currently have our traditional halogen 500 watt light fitting. You will see these on just about every house and every industrial unit in the country. They have provided lighting for security, health and safety, deterrent and working light for all of us over the years.

Around 20 years ago the Tungstan halogen light was a hard wearing reliable piece of of kit. For around £45 you could buy a fitting that would last perhaps 5 years if subjected to “normal” working conditions. Although the fitting was of exceptional quality the bulbs themselves can only realistically be expected to survive a year or so. This meant annual maintenance and ongoing cost.

Then came the era of the ultra cheap halogen light fitting. This unit was manufactured to a low standard, it was cheap and it burnt out quickly. The nipples that spring onto the bulb disintegrated after just a few weeks or months. It made a very poor security light as it never seemed to work and the cost of replacing both the bulb and the fitting was prohibitive. Not such a cheap option in the long run. what was worse is it made the good quality halogen lights extinct!

Of course the problem with both the good halogens and the bad halogens is that however long they lasted they are very expensive to run. Half a bar of an electric fire for those old fashioned ones of you reading this and you could have several of these lights burning away all night long. Not efficient or very clever, add to this the  light pollution they cause and nobody is happy really!

So what is the solution? Well it’s simple. White light LED illuminators. This technology uses ultra bright LEDs to achieve the same level of brightness or LUX level as our old 500 watt halogen and at a fraction of the running cost. Yes currently white light LED illuminators are more expensive in the first place but you will get a return on your investment within a year and the lights can self clean and go un-maintained for up to 10 years so no more cherry pickers at £300 a time just to replace your bulbs.

White light LED illuminator Clarius

We strongly recommend the Clarius white light illuminator. With patented self cleaning lenses and high quality parts used in the manufacturing process, you don’t just get good value for money you also get a unit that looks atheistically pleasing to the eye and looks good on any building. With Heath and safety playing a major role in all business today the directional light satisfies the needs for working light, safe light, light pollution campaigners and those who foot the bills for cherry pickers (a real hidden cost for industry today). Add in the real money saver in the form of reduced electricity cost and it seems like a no brainer.

Taking in consideration that halogen lighting is in sharp decline (1000watt bulbs are not even made anymore) it makes sense to look out for the Claruis white light illuminator,  probably the best in the industry.

HD CCTV white light illuminator

All end users want good colour images at night, to achieve this its important that a white light illuminator is your lighting solution of choice. A good white light illuminator will be able to  produce around 2700 lumens in darkness, ample for good colour night time images. The best thing about led lighting though is its tough and it’s reliable. A life of 10 years or more can be achieved.

CCTV lighting has always been overlooked sometimes conveniently by sales to keep prices low, but most crime takes place at night and  all cameras need light to produce an acceptable image. HD CCTV needs more light to work, street light will be insufficient for mega pixel cameras or HD SDI CCTV. Remember that good lighting will save space on your hard drive ridding your images of background interference that often increases the memory consumed on your hard drive.

CCTV lighting is becoming even more important now with the growth of HD SDI CCTV and mega pixel IP cameras. In the past CCTV lighting has been done using either IR bulbs or halogen lighting. An expensive way of doing things, with halogen an unacceptable way forward now. It pollutes and must be phased out. This opens up the path for white light illuminators in particular all in both the electrical and CCTV industry agree this the way forward if we can get the costs down.

So what do the experts say? …….. “what is the price of an illuminator compared to a halogen? Well right now price wise there is no comparison. While a 500 watt halogen can be purchased for as little as £5, an illuminator that is going to give the same sort of light spread will be well over £200 and very often more. This is hampering the change over of CCTV lighting from old to new technology. However the end user must be educated in the the TCO of an illunminator and the benefits of upgrading his CCTV lighting. While a halogen light might do you for a year without burning out , it wont last too much longer on average. Then it will draw 5 times more energy, this can be costly when having to pay the electricity bill. You must also consider access to the light for maintenance, a cherry picker these days is going to set you back at least £250 for the day so that halogen is far more expensive than you think. Finally if you are upgrading to HD SDI CCTV or a mega pixel IP camera then the extra money you have paid for quality images will be wasted as night time recordings will be disappointing

So for crisp clear colour images from your HD SDI CCTV system at night go green with a white light illuminator”

White light illuminator ,IR illuminator

White light illuminator, IR illuminator or even halogen lighting. Which ever form of lighting you chose to compliment your HD CCTV system it is crucial to consider your CCTV lighting plan with the same level of thought as you choose your HD SDI cameras and your recording solution.
An HD CCTV system without an White light illuminator is like a conductor without his orchestra. One needs the other.  Without lighting you will not see anything and colour is impossible to reproduce. HD CCTV is far more sensitive to light levels than analogue and installers need to let their customers know at point of sale. Don’t just hope ambient lighting will be sufficient. It wont!
In response to the obvious need for CCTV lighting many HD SDI camera manufacturers are including IR illuminator LED’s within their camera unit itself. Anything from 12-96 IR LED’s can be seen fitted to many HD SDI cameras now depending on the distance the installer is trying to achieve. These cameras work well and we would recommend them , however there is always a scenario where a White light illuminator will be needed, this is of course where colour images at night are important.
Here at HD CCTV solutions we stock one of the most robust range of white light and IR illuminators on the market. Manufactured in the UK, these tried and tested CCTV illuminators are ideal where an HD CCTV system is being deployed.
So think CCTV lighting when designing HD CCTV systems and think White light illuminator for colour IR illuminator for covert lighting , easy to install highly cost effective and efficient and a compliment to any CCTV system you are installing.
