The Predator PTZ camera, Jack of all trades and master of all of them !

Thermal predator
Jack of all trades

Sometimes in the Security arena a product arrives in the market place that really captures the imagination of those in the industry. The Predator CCTV camera with all its variants is one of those products.   Launched to compete with the Bosch MIC product range the Predator ruggedized PTZ camera has been able to morph into a camera that really can fit into most applications.

The 360 Vision PRED can be fitted at airports, harbours, military sites. Schools university’s and hotels. It can be purchased as an HD camera, have built in IR, A white light that gives a fantastic deterrent feature and this camera can even come with thermal capability.   There is so many ways to use the Predator CCTV camera. Those who deploy mobile security are mounting these cameras to their vehicles and harbour masters are utilizing the thermal aspect of the cameras to give them a distinct advantage when monitoring our seaports.

The PREDATOR CCTV camera is designed to work on a multitude of recording platforms and it will integrate seamlessly into existing systems. It comes as standard with Multi Protocols including Pelco, Ultrak and DM. This allows complete integration with most DVR’s. If your existing set up is an IPCCTV system then there is an IP version of the Predator and because this is ONVIF compliant any video management system can be integrated into quite easily. This includes Avigilon and Milestone two of the most popular VMS systems out there.

Perhaps the largest untapped source yet of sales within the security world is thermal. 360 vision have recognized this and the Predator Thermal is available in either 320 or 640 pixel resolution. This definition is more than enough to pick up heat sources at distances of 2.5K in absolutely zero light conditions. When used by on-site security guards this is an extremely powerful tool. One feature that has been asked for by many is temperature sensing from the thermal core that will lead to an alarm condition. This can be particularly useful in the waste industry and in areas where expensive plant needs to be protected against fire. The new 320S offers temperature sensing with up to 10 ‘Temperature Alarms’ to monitor Preset positions. This means that if the temperature rises or drops below a pre-defined temperature range, then an alarm condition that can be created and transmitted to a central station triggering a reactive response and hopefully limiting any damage that may be caused.

To complement the Thermal range there is also another offering that gives fantastic pictures at night. The IR version of the Predator now has 125m of IR illumination. Added to this camera is also the Ultra Bright White Light LEDs meaning images can be produced in both monochrome and colour. A great feature but we believe the white light offers much more than just colour images at night. It brings a whole new deterrent value to your security system. Imagine as this light follows an intruder, either automatically through the use of alarm presets or manually as a guard is able to follow every move an intruder is making. It really does hand the advantage to the guard and business owner and remove any doubt for the intruder that he is being watched, recorded and more than likely going to be caught committing any crime he may be considering.

One final feature that highlights 360 Vision’s sense of fun as well as a clever commercial tool is that you can buy the Predator camera in just about any colour you may want. Add to this a new innovation where by you can get any pattern transferred onto the camera. It maybe camouflage or perhaps need to fit with the brickwork pattern of the building it is being fitted to. This now means you can have a camera that will either stand out or blend in to any situation that maybe required, this it has to be said is quite brilliant! predcolours220x190 The HD predator is just the latest addition from 360 vision so in essence we can say the Predator is colourful, practical and effective, most of all though, it is a camera that is proactive NOT reactive, something we all want and need these days.

HD SDI Predator

360 vision have announced that they are to add a Predator CCTV camera to the range that is capable of of HD resolution using the new HD SDI technology.

The Predator has gone HD thanks to slip ring technology that now allows HD SDI data to pass through them without the loss of HD quality. Previously this had been impossible and had held back the development of a product that will help 360 vision capture the upgrade market whereby existing cameras run over RG59 coax can now easily be replaced with the predator camera and offer resolution that many other cameras in its class still cannot do. The HD SDI predator is the result and 360 vision see many applications where this HD SDI predator will be deployed.

Predator HD SDI camera

360 have also produced an IP megapixel version of the Predator camera that will give HD resolution over an IP network. This foray into the HD camera market has been coming for months and is a welcome addition to the Predator range that also has analogue and Thermal versions. The complete solution in fact.

To enable recording of the HD images either the March networks VMS software is an option for the IP version or for HD SDI 360 vision have released the 2 way HD SDi Avalon. This 2 way unit will interface easily with Avalon H and T software to mean that expansion of analogue systems can be achieved in small manageable steps. 4, 8 and 16 way units are planned but as yet are unavailable.

50% of metal theft is actually from metal recycling companies

Imagine , you are a metal thief, where is the best place to steal your valuable metal products from? Perhaps use a mini grinder to steal a valuable Bronze statue from the streets of London . Perhaps an easier target would be bronze plates from war memorials or maybe the local brewery and a few aluminium casks from their back yard. Even easier perhaps, the metal could be stolen from the high street in the form of manhole covers or the local railway line could be targeted with all its associated steel and copper signalling equipment? Well no, most thieves are a bit brighter than that . It seems the best place to steal metal from is the scrap metal dealers themselves . Often portrayed as part of the problem, metal recyclers of whom most are towing the line and complying with  all the constraints and regulation now being put upon them are often the main victims of metal theft.

According to figures released by the BMRA the trade association of the British metals recycling industry. 50% of all metal theft is actually occurring from the scrap yards or should we say recycling centres themselves. Perhaps this is true, but worse of all it seems most of the crime is more a result of criminals stealing and then moving metal from one scrap metal site to another and getting very well paid for it .. Something not lost on those traders who are sick to the back teeth of being blamed for the problem..

As a result the need for security is becoming more and more important but most sites have historically been difficult to cover with dark corners and lighting almost impossible. The solution though is here . The White light predator is the answer to those recyclers who have been on the end of some nasty losses. The white light predator can identify culprits  in full colour with a zoomed in shot that once captured can be circulated amongst fellow recycling members, meaning they can easily reject these individuals from their sites when they turn up with their wares . The act of being identified and with full colour zoomed in images  is a good start in the effort to  break this cycle of crime. Deterrent in this case is everything and there is nothing worse for an intruder than being “caught in the headlights ” of the white light predator. For more detail on the product see the 360 vision technology website.

We have heard that 360 vision technology are releasing a new predator camera into their range. We have seen the Predator camera before and it is a robust quality piece of kit.The predator comes in several different formats including IP, night vision with IR and of course thermal. But now something not seen before as we as we know, a CCTV camera with a spot light. Its actually called the White Light predator. What a great idea when you think of the deterrent value something like this can bring to a CCTV system is surprising that no one thought about this idea years ago!

So how does it work, well to be honest its so new we don’t know but we know it uses high powered led technology and this can either be manually switched on by a security guard or can be programmed to automatically to come on with alarm presets. So you will get a crystal clear night time image and deterrent that will deter criminals as they attempt to break in. No one in there right right mind will continue to perpetrate a crime while under the watch of a spot light especially as this spotlight will track there every move within the protected area.

So to any specifiers out there who need a camera that looks good, that performs brilliantly and offers unprecedented deterrent value. Keep your eyes open for the Predator complete with spotlight………… it certainly is an illuminating idea!
