iPhone is STILL selling CCTV – Part 2 !

CCTV integrated with iPhone, as we reported back in December 2010 was starting to be extremely instrumental in the close of a CCTV order.

It seems that momentum has not let up!

CCTV iphone

Talking to a leading Manufacturer, sales of their DVR systems have leapt up by 25% – JUST BECAUSE OF THE THEIR IPHONE APP !!!!

Discussing further, it appears that installer/integrator sales guys, armed with their iPhones/iPods/iPads, are visiting customers and just at the point of discussing the recording solution, whipping out their iDevice (!!) and showing the end user cameras being viewed live and even moving PTZ Dome cameras using the iDevice’s touchscreen capabilities……..of course, the end user, probably armed with his/her own iDevice, can instantly see the benefit of being able to view live footage on what is ostensibly a consumer product range that pretty much everyone owns these days!!!

But 25% increase??!! that’s crazy yet quite exciting……it means that CCTV is starting to be viewed with more interest by the consumer…….rather than just a business tool that sadly is often considered a necessary evil, customers can now sit in the comfort of their home, make a connection to site, analyse what they are viewing and make informed decisions on their application…..

And it doesn’t stop at iDevices…….BlackBerries have apps too to do the same thing……..

As Apple continues their World Take Over Dominance (!) then it looks like forward thinking manufacturers are using this widely used and available consumer product to push themselves in front of more and more customers!

And….we like that!

What do you think?

WV-SC385 Megapixel PTZ dome from Panasonic

Panasonic PTZ megapixel IP dome

We recently highlighted the New WJ-NV200 network video recorder from Panasonic. The NVR is one way Panasonic hope to bring IP video to the masses. Facial recognition is a key feature of the WJ-NV200 but any recording solution can only be as good as good as the streamed images that are being input into the NVR. That is why Panasonic have released two new cameras to help compliment their recording solution. They are the WV-SP102 and the WV-SP105. In a bid to target small retail, workshop and office environments both the cameras come in both VGA or HD formats both giving 720p definition.

The I-PRO series though also needed a megapixel IP dome camera with fully functional PTZ . This is about to be released by Panasonic and is the WV-SC385. Features include H.264 /MPEG-4JPEG dual streaming up to 30 images per second (IPS). Also megapixel images up to 4VGA . The new WV-SC385 also boasts true day/night and most importantly POE . It is IP 66 rated and ONVIF compliant. The most important point is the Panasonic name that tends to suggest that this fully functional PTZ dome will be both innovative and reliable.

Samsung DVR SRD series.

Samsung SRD series.

Samsung has recently brought out their new SRD series of H.264 DVRs. Branded as the Techwin DVR, many of the new models have an HDMI output to upscale images to 1080p together with virtual progressive scan. These new features help with the problems with blurred edges and the development of this technology has ensured that the user will see crisp clear still frames when reviewing images.

Wide range of DVRs.

The SRD range has been developed to give installers a wide range of products to suit all budgets and offer many different variables of solutions. Existing static cameras can be easily upgraded to a PTZ dome camera as RS485 control can be sent over the existing coaxial cable and eliminates the need to run an additional twisted pair to effect camera control. A built in web server, dual codec operation and removable hard drives all gives the installer plenty of options when specifying for a multitude of scenarios.

CCTV software.

All the new series will interface with Samsung’s centralized management software SVM-S1 with a GUI menu structure that makes operation for the end user very simplistic. Samsung DVRs have earned an excellent reputation for reliability and flexibility and the SRD series is no exception to this. Supplied with a a full three year warranty and free technical support the SRD range is expected to sell very well over the next couple of years.
