Hikvision HD static dome camera

Hikvision-DS-2CD4124F-IZ

This compact HD static dome from Hikvision is a networked camera capable of delivering 1080p streams in triplicate. As  standard the camera comes with a 2.8 -12mm varifocal lens with integrated IR leds for night time viewing. The range of the high powered LEDs can operate up to 30 metres. As this is a networked camera it comes with Video motion detection built in and is able to activate alarms on facial detection. Audio is also a feature of this camera and as with all the top cameras in the Hikvision suite it supports edge recording via it’s SD slot. You can also choose how to power this unit, POE or 12V DC are both provided for.

A recent independent assessment  of the camera carried out by Benchmark magazine gave this camera an 80% mark, a percentage ranking that was only bettered by the AXISP3365-V, no disgrace there.

Setting up the unit is simple but any problems are easily solved by reading through the CD provided with the camera. Image quality is not the best when compared with the AXIS camera equivalent . The pictures are darker than some may expect and this has been noted but from a price point much lower than most HD static domes it can be overlooked.

Hikvision have also been able to gain a large amount of the monitoring market place. Their NVR and DVR integrate nicely into the IMMIX monitoring platform and as result Hikvision are selling into the UK on a huge scale. It looks like Hivision are here to stay.

One of the major benefits of the VXH264 however is the ability to have the unit monitored remotely. This is all done via broadband meaning no call costs and a secure solution for the end user. The Videcon DVR unit will integrate with central stations that run IMMIX as their front end alarm processing software, so if you have or are considering buying the VXH264 and require remote monitoring this can be sourced from the following companies.

Farsight security        08453710101

Admiral Security         01924442288

Securitas alert services 01908658100

Cougar monitoring        08448566685

Other central stations that are able to offer IMMIX front end software can also be found on the Videcon website.

Honeywell and Sureview join forces.

Honeywell and Sureview have joined forced to enable Honeywell products to integrate with IMMIX video management software. The first of Honeywell’s products to be integrated will be WIN-PAK access control one of Honeywell’s premium products. The joining of these two companies will in time enable video and intruder alarms to be displayed on one single GUI when mixing different technologies from both Honeywell and other manufacturers.

Honeywell IMMIXIt is proof that open protocols are the way forward with many manufacturers realizing that integrated security requires the use of both new and legacy kit to be used when upgrading customers to fully integrated security systems .

Videcon VXH264 DVR

The Videcon concept pro DVR series comes in 4,8, and 16 way versions. A
quick glance shows that it includes the following features as standard.

1) H.264 compression is a powerful compression engine that allows
anything up to 30% more footage to be stored on the DVR compared to
MPEG4.

2) As you would expect the VXH264 comes in 3 versions. 4,8,16 ways and Videcon
have made sure the new DVR will integrate seamlessly with other products
in Concept Pro range.

3) For enhanced on- screen operation and ease of use , the CCTV software
interface has a colour coded GUI. In addition to this the operator is able to use
a 24 hour single channel overview in the form of a panoramic search. This helps drill down an event into 3 hour periods and makes finding information very much easier.

4) To ensure a rapid response to events as they happen Videcon have
included an instant playback feature.Very handy if the operator has just witnessed an event and wishes to review it immediately.

5) 2 forms of remote connection are also available either through your
PC using an on screen web browser or alternatively from your smart
phone or iPhone. Apps are simple to download and very easy to use. This is something that we believe is always going to help sales.

6) Remote monitoring is possible using the VXH264-4 VX264-8 and the
VX264-16 .Each unit can connect to any professional monitoring station
that employees IMMIX software as its front end alarm handling software.
By using broadband as your primary path to the central station it is
quick cheap. The line can be monitored securely using Emizon giving you an
excellent overall package. With remote monitoring giving an on going
annual revenue stream it makes sense to push this option to end users.

In addition to the above the DVRs run a watchdog that will monitor the
health of the hard drive and log any faults that may be occurring. This
enables action to be taken before any footage is lost. We find the major
gripe customers have is when they need footage only to find that the
hard drive has failed. The Smart system check functions within the
VXH264 come in very handy in terms of preventing this.

Active audit trails; multiple archiving facilities and reserve data
management all help to sell this product on
merit. Add to this a smart search facility and a 3 year warranty and you
have a very tidy package here from a forward thinking company.

Honeywell and SureView unite

SureView and Honeywell unite.

Honeywell are actively encouraging collaboration within the security industry as part of its drive to promote the Honeywell open technology alliance. The latest company to come on board is SureView the company behind Immix the central station management software.

The alliance suits both parties and the integration between Immix and WIN-PAK CS 4.1 means integrated access control now has an added level of security and allows other manufacturers equipment to be displayed to the operator through a single graphical interface. This means a response and full management of a an access control system is handled in just one location thus eliminating the need for an on-site guard with all the saving that this can bring.

The whole concept gives companies like SureView the opportunity  to offer their customers more choice when designing there security systems and to ensure integration between different products is made simple. In essence the software captures alerts and alarms from the on-site access control and seamlessly matches this to CCTV images from the cameras on site.

Any integration between access control and CCTV is welcomed and is certainly the way forward for the industry.
