Intersec Dubai news and reviews

Intersec is over for another year and the wonderful country of Dubai has waved off the hundreds of over sea Manufacturers and Distributors within our great Industry!

Intersec Dubai

I was looking to post daily, but 3G conspired against me and wifi within the show was well used shall we say!!!

But here goes…

Held in the wonderfully situated Dubai Convention and Exhibition Centre in the main Business sector of Dubai, the show was a very well laid out expo, held over several halls split into country zones. I liked this format and am sure those visiting with specific technology in mind would find this method an easy way to navigate what was an extremely large show

It seemed larger than our own UK based IFSEC expo based in Birmingham, and yet the halls and stands interconnected in a logical, Milton Keynes road structure way!

Notably, our Far Eastern friends find value in the Middle Eastern region, occupying large sections of the exhibitions in ‘China’, ‘Taiwan’ and ‘Korea’ sections – all showing a mixture of their latest Tech goodies including Megapixel cameras, NVR Software solutions and other ‘must have’ gadgets!

What was interesting was the distinct lack of HD-SDI solutions – HDCCTV in another name – and I can kind of understand why………

3G (despite my own woes) was prevalent EVERYWHERE in Dubai…….and this is mirrored throughout the Middle East. Our Arabian friends have embraced IP Technology, spending huge quantities of money developing envied high speed internet links throughout their regions……….visitors to any CCTV stands would always be heard asking ‘is that camera available in IP’

So, with such high acceptance and embrace of IP technology, why would they need HDCCTV?  I cannot argue against this on this occasion – the regions are developing from a relatively recent existence and therefore their ‘retro-fit’ market is much, much less than ours in the UK – if it’s new, it’s IP…..

I did spot an excellent gadget on the Cominet stand though!! a 3G HD-SDI Link to extend HDCCTV connectivity to upto 30Km !!!!! Nice!

So, with the focus on latest products & technology, here is a summary of the key exhibitors and their Intersec offering !
Cominet  – 3G hdsdi link 30km
CPPlus – a nice range of HD-SDI cameras and DVRs including a good looking  3MP Mini-dome

Norbain with their VIP Overt PTZ and Arecont ‘exclusive’ IP Product range.
Comnet showed a very nice PoE+ to provide power over copper to 1km.
Optex/Redwall had a very impressive stand with a PTZ Ganz unit to support their perimeter detection devices.
Hall 3 was set aside for more Integrator/Solution Provider presence relating to homeland security – One notable exhibitor was the Soncell Corporation including the Panoptech team.
Axxon from Russia showed their excellent BMS IP solution.
Bosch – IP all the way but only had one of their flagship MIC units on display !!
Axis IP air conditioned dome!! – yep, a dome with air conditioning on the side !!
Samsung  – interesting to see their inclusion into thermal imaging solutions and also their HDCCTV products!
Panasonic solar wireless CCTV – well, there is always an abundance of sun in the Middle East, good call Panasonic!
Videotec from Italy showed their PTZ positioning device – not the smallest but certainly very well made!
Genetic IP software to rival the Milestone revolution
UTC/Chubb showing their System Solution skills

and not forgetting……
Vivotek
Sony
FLIR
Honeywell
Mobitix

So, was it a success? in my opinion a resounding yes!

Well laid out, wonderfully positioned, excellent cross section of exhibitors, great facilities (catering, rest rooms etc) and with great travel options including the excellent Dubai Metro

In fact, probably the best Security Show currently available!

FLIR thermal CCTV cameras.New version now available

FLIR thermal CCTV cameras

Thermal CCTV imaging cameras as we have mentioned before on this site are the next generation of security and surveillance applications.

FLIR Systems are launching a new version of thermal CCTV imaging cameras.

Despite the success of the old SR-Series the new camera FLIR claim is even better although they still look the same from the outside, all SR-Series come with a new thermal imaging core that will allow the end user to view even farther distances than before. This means that users can now detect targets at greater distance for the same price. Sounds like a good deal to us!

The SR-Series are using the most advanced thermal imaging technology available on the market today. The FLIR thermal CCTV camera is capable of producing crisp 320 x 240 pixels thermal images.

In the new thermal CCTV camera more pixels allow the user to see more detail and to detect smaller objects than before. Remember of course with thermal CCTV the camera provides high quality thermal imaging in any night- or daytime environmental conditions.

FLIR have produced the camera with several different lens options as follows:

– SR-124: 9 mm lens – Field of view: 24° (H) x 20° (V)

– SR-117: 13 mm lens – Field of view: 17° (H) x 14° (V)

– SR-112: 19 mm lens – Field of view: 12° (H) x 10° (V)

Or with the larger imaging cell

– SR-348: 9 mm lens – Field of view: 48° (H) x 39° (V) – SR-334: 13 mm lens – Field of view: 34° (H) x 28° (V)

– SR-324: 19 mm lens – Field of view: 24° (H) x 19° (V)

– SR-313: 35 mm lens – Field of view: 13° (H) x 10° (V)

– SR-309: 50 mm lens – Field of view: 9° (H) x 7° (V)

– SR-304: 100 mm lens – Field of view: 4.6° (H) x 3.7° (V)

The range of the FLIR thermal CCTV cameras is astonishing with the right lens in place of course the camera can detect a man sized object at a range of up to 2 KM this gives the camera enormous potential in a market place that is looking for quality and costs savings. Imagine how many analogue cam areas it would take to cove a similar distance?

About thermal imaging

Also we need to think about the other benefits of thermal CCTV camera remember thermal imaging cameras produce images of invisible infrared or “heat” radiation. Based on temperature differences between objects, so fog dust and even water is no barrier when an image is required. In contrast with other technologies, such as light amplification, thermal imaging needs no light to produce an image on which the smallest of details can be seen. It can see in total darkness, in the darkest of nights, in the far distance, and is able to detect anyone hiding in the shadows. It is has many uses including security and surveillance, maritime, automotive, fire fighting and many other applications.

So FLIR thermal CCTV are no appearing in day to day scenarios , no longer are these cameras beyond the budget of a normal business its not just the military and police that can afford them. We will be keeping our eye on the progress of this camera but consider that sales will be strong.

Thermal CCTV – really will be the BUZZ word this year!

Thermal CCTV but why?

Thermal CCTV
Thermal CCTV is here

Take a look at the news at the moment – there is an awful lot of political unrest around the world right now…….and that generally increases awareness for crime, violence and potential terrorism threats!

So what is so good about Thermal CCTV? Well, Thermal does not need light…….in fact, it does not need any light at all…………. So, in areas of black outs or darkness, Thermal imaging is amazing at creating crystal clear images in zero light and at distance.

Distance?

Yep, Thermal CCTV can provide movement detection of an object at over 700m………it can even recognise the type of movement (human, car etc) at over 100m……all in zero light

So, airports, borders, ports, electricity plants, sewerage plants, gas, oil, water treatment – in fact, anything that could potentially be a gateway for terrorist activity is able to benefit from Thermal Imaging

Many manufacturers are jumping on the Thermal CCTV bandwagon – some even choosing to develop Thermal solutions ahead of HD or megapixel – Flir, Bosch, 360 Vision etc

Just take a look at forthcoming exhibitions and shows such as IFSEC and ISC ……….. watch out for the latest solutions and you will no doubt find that Thermal Imaging CCTV is well up on most manufacturers list of developments!

Infiniti Integrated PTZ camera.Dedicated Micros Thermal CCTV solution.

The Infiniti integrated PTZ camera is Dedicated Micros answer to thermal CCTV. They have gone for a fully functional Integrated solution using a day/night CCTV camera and a thermal imaging unit together in the same housing. By combining the two different technologies Dedicated Micros Infiniti has an answer to all lighting conditions, in theory you will never be without a picture or thermal images to work with . Great for high security situations.

The Infiniti also comes in both analogue and IP versions and is housed in a IP66 enclosure. A sun shield and  integrated washer and wiper ensure that the lens is well protected against the elements. The Infiniti also has simultaneous streams from both of the integrated cameras and the thermal imaging unit has an exceptional range of 900M. Brilliant for scenarios where an early warning of movement is required.

We recently told you of how we believe Thermal imaging will start to be used more and more in the mainstream CCTV market and now with the Bosch Metal Mickey and 360 vision’s thermal predator. The competition is starting to hot up. Flir also are trying to reduce their prices in order to compete with these new kids on the block. The only negative comments we have heard is aesthetically, the Infiniti does not really match the some of its closest rivals…as i was told..comparing the the camera with its closest rivals is a little like comparing Cheryl Cole and Susan Boyle………not quite sure what they meant by that ……………….
