Analogue CCTV cameras, still alive and kicking

Analogue CCTV cameras have kind of received some bad press recently. We have been guided by the big manufacturers over the last year or two and have been led to believe that analogue CCTV is a dead technology. Well it seems that the good old analogue CCTV cameras and DVRs are still very much alive and kicking. Why is this? Well its really all down to price. Analogue CCTV systems have remained stubbornly cheap in comparison to IP cameras recording onto an NVR. Of course we all know the benefits of IP surveillance systems. The clearer images, the ease of installation, dual streaming and so forth. However it appears that price is currently the overall driving factor and with DVR and analogue camera solutions from the Asian market becoming ever cheaper but including more features and functionality, IP camera solutions are making little headway at present.
This is outlined when you get the likes of March networks bringing out a New DVR to replace there 4000 series with a projected life span of 5 years this takes us up to 2016!! Something I doubt they anticipated having to do some 3 or 4 years ago. Panasonic released their iPro range in anticipation of exponential growth into IP video solutions but as we see below they are still pushing analogue products and we think this will continue now for at least another year.

Panasonic Analogue CCTV cameras and DVR solutions include the following but what sort of prices would you be expecting to be paying?

INCLUDING:

WJ-HL204 250GB DVR from £450
WV-CP290 Fixed Camera from £90
WV-CP280 Camera Bundle from £140
WV-CF284 Static Dome from £90

Panasonic WJ-HL204 DVR with 250GB on board storage is a 4-channel recorder with H.264 compression for all cameras. With the ability to add 3 drives that takes the unit up 3TB it would seem to offer all the the end user needs at present at a fraction of the cost of an IP solution.

WV-CP290

So what about the analogue camera solutions , well with High sensitivity and high resolution.

WV-CP290

The new Panasonic WV-CP290 CCTV Camera combines the very best features you would expect from Panasonic at the very best price. In addition fixed dome camera are always popular and the WV-CF284 is compact in design and boasts a varifocal lens, and easy mount brackets.

So as we can see lots of analogue CCTV cameras and DVR  products out there from the big name manufacturers. One day it will be…. but analogue CCTV is not dead just yet!

Dahua DVR and camera range.

Dahua logoDahua are a progressive manufacturer who have captivated the CCTV market
place across Asia and are making steady inroads into both the European
and American market. Over the next few months we will be reviewing Dahua
CCTV products and how the company as a whole is progressing.
Today we look at how Dahua have introduced the new SD6681-HN 1.3
megapixel PTZ dome camera.

Dahua

This IP PTZ dome camera boast many features
including the Sony CCD chip that allows quality images and progressive
scan. A powerful 18:1 optical zoom lens gives the unit the ability to
cover large areas but still give the end user the quality images that
they require.

As with all domes the ability to be able to operate in areas of low light
is essential and the Dahua IP PTZ dome camera comes equipped with a
day/night auto iris and auto focus lens that ensures the end user will
be able to gain quality images in difficult lighting situations. Dahua
appreciate that high speed panning means alarms can be seen quickly and
the SD6681-HN has a pan speed of up to 400 degrees per second and
endless pan rotation. IP PTZ domes need redundancy when it comes to
recording and an on board hot swappable SD card gives this Dahua camera
32 gig of on board memory should the primary recording solution fail.
Complete with a built in web-server remote access to the camera means
servicing is easy and firmware upgrades can be carried out without
inconvenience to the customer. In addition Access from the web is simple.

iPhone is STILL selling CCTV – Part 2 !

CCTV integrated with iPhone, as we reported back in December 2010 was starting to be extremely instrumental in the close of a CCTV order.

It seems that momentum has not let up!

CCTV iphone

Talking to a leading Manufacturer, sales of their DVR systems have leapt up by 25% – JUST BECAUSE OF THE THEIR IPHONE APP !!!!

Discussing further, it appears that installer/integrator sales guys, armed with their iPhones/iPods/iPads, are visiting customers and just at the point of discussing the recording solution, whipping out their iDevice (!!) and showing the end user cameras being viewed live and even moving PTZ Dome cameras using the iDevice’s touchscreen capabilities……..of course, the end user, probably armed with his/her own iDevice, can instantly see the benefit of being able to view live footage on what is ostensibly a consumer product range that pretty much everyone owns these days!!!

But 25% increase??!! that’s crazy yet quite exciting……it means that CCTV is starting to be viewed with more interest by the consumer…….rather than just a business tool that sadly is often considered a necessary evil, customers can now sit in the comfort of their home, make a connection to site, analyse what they are viewing and make informed decisions on their application…..

And it doesn’t stop at iDevices…….BlackBerries have apps too to do the same thing……..

As Apple continues their World Take Over Dominance (!) then it looks like forward thinking manufacturers are using this widely used and available consumer product to push themselves in front of more and more customers!

And….we like that!

What do you think?

Honeywell HRDP DVR

ESI and Honeywell have teamed up in order to offer HRDP dvr users a
centrally monitored CCTV solution.

The integration between the two companies uses the Fusion HRDP DVR and
ESI’s (European System Integration) front end monitoring software
platform.

Honeywell HRDP

This is a route to market that has been used by others in the past but this partnership is unique. It
enables Honeywell’s customers to re-enforce their allegiance to the
Fusion product and stop other suppliers stepping in with a monitoring
solution.

The partnership works both ways and allows the central stations to
approach customers who have not considered remote monitoring in the past
but have just used their Fusion DVR for stand alone purposes only.

With the introduction of more and more broadband into business and with the
phasing out of ISDN many end users have been looking for ways to reduce
phone bills and enhance the way that their CCTV can be responded to.

Remote CCTV monitoring is an excellent way of reducing costs associated
with on site manned guarding and can be just as effective. The ability
to generate a verbal warning on site and coordinate an effective
response to an alarm means effective savings and less crime.

The Fusion IV is Honeywell’s leading recording and monitoring solution
and has been deployed across many sites in the UK plenty of opportunity
for installers and central station alike to revisit sites and upgrade to
ensure extra revenue streams.
