Raytec v Clarius

Clarius illuminators are the main competitor to Raytec in the world of security and lighting. The two product ranges dominate the professional illuminator market place. Based upon this GJD a world renowned distributor of lighting and security  products decided buy into Clarius led lighting and take it forward to challenge Raytec as the market leader.

led lighting technology has many benefits over traditional lighting such as sodium or Halogen. The growth seen as a result means this is a market place worth dominating. Sales are expected to increase exponentially in the coming years and for good reason.

Why use a Clarius IR illuminator?

Clarius infra-red LED illuminators are designed to provide class leading performance, long life and ultra-low maintenance. Incorporating the latest surface mount LED’s with enhanced optical output and outstanding reliability, they deliver excellent night-time images. Each unit is fitted with integrated control circuitry to carefully control LED output, delivering consistent illumination and projected working life in excess of 10 years. Installation is quick and easy, requiring only a 12-32V DC /24V AC input.

New installations and replacement of old tired looking lighting is becoming a practice that will continue going forward and Clarius/GJD are very well placed to benefit from this change in lighting preferences. POE has added to the benefits we can list and this enables installations to be completed by people from a non-electrical background.

HD CCTV has added to the need for good lighting. As CCTV installations worldwide change to meet the needs of end users and the desire for HD images increases so the lighting will become ever more important.

GJD are currently developing more advanced products still to meet this need

Why have hundreds of CCTV cameras suddenly stopped working overnight?

Bizarre but true. Suddenly without warning hundreds if not thousands of CCTV cameras have suddenly stopped working overnight. How could this happen? What is going on? Without warning many CCTV end users are trying to review their footage of overnight incidents and have seen a dramatic fall in the quality of their pictures. Why this sudden change? Have CCTV cameras all decided to fail at once? Well no , not exactly but the one thing all CCTV cameras rely on totally has started to disappear, the problem is that all of a sudden there is no light.

HD CCTV UK
CCTV cameras

Wait you may say, just replace the bulbs, but this is not the inherent problem, the issue arises from the need for many cameras across the UK to rely on ambient lighting to operate, street lighting to be precise. For years the UK has been treated to dusk till dawn street lighting across the pretty much the whole of the country. This has meant cameras using this street lighting to operate have always worked with little or no need for additional light. Now however we have seen a new phenomenon creep into the UK economy . It is called austerity.

For the last year many councils across the country have been faced with some tough decision on how to save money, now many are doing the unthinkable and switching off street lighting in the small hours between 1 am and 5 am. The reasons of course are sound, much money saved and let’s be honest most of us are sound asleep so it has no effect at all on us. However some fractions of the criminal fraternity are thriving on a twofold advantage being handed to them . No light meaning they can operate in more or less complete darkness and no cameras to catch them either. Of course the cameras that suffer most are those that for years have operated with no issues whatsoever. No one has seen this coming…literally.

This problem though is easily solved. Clarius IR illuminators for dual chip cameras and Clarius white light illuminators for colour cameras will solve the problem overnight with the minimum of cost compared to a camera upgrade or the installation of new cameras with built in IR.

So cameras that simply don’t work are a growing problem across the UK but Clarius illuminators can solve the problem quickly at the best prices to the end user. So don’t be left in the dark, check your night time images now and take advantage of LED lighting technology to improve you CCTV images all round.

Bosch clear on IP video solutions.

A series of road-shows across the the UK are grabbing the attention of  installers and giving Bosch the chance to demonstrate how they are using content based imaging in order to help detect and then track movement within a scene. During the demonstration Bosch are able to show just how far their products have advanced as they concentrate on HD and intelligent video analysis software to give installers extra features to temp their user base to upgrade to IP based products and HD camera technology.

The Dinion range of cameras has always been at the forefront of the Bosch marketing campaigns but now they have a new “star” . They actually call it the starlight camera and the light levels it can work down to are astonishing. With HD needing to overcome lighting issues this is a big step forward.  Add to this new camera the Divar IP range of network video recorders and they could be onto something. The cost is  and it offers a solution definatly competitive that will appeal to large and smaller installers alike. As the fear factor subsides over IP and more and more HD cctv solutions start to come on line Bosch seem to have found  a combination of cameras and recording solutions alike that could help change the way CCTV is viewed by the general public.

Analytics are at the forefront of the new way to make the most of meta data and use this as a powerful way to upsell CCTV to a doubtful potential customer.
